Von Holleben’s journey into this wonderful visual world began in 2002 with the photographic project Dreams of Flying. Inspired by the classics of children’s literature as well as superheroes, von Holleben captured children’s stories and transformed them into magical scenarios.
Jan von Holleben has made a name for himself in the world of photography, publishing more than 25 books, mainly for children, that are known and recognised worldwide. The influence of his parents, his father a photographer and his mother a child psychologist, is clearly evident in his work. His dedication to the visual representation of childhood, ‘children’s stories’ and concepts of ‘play’ is also fuelled by his training as a teacher. Jan studied Photography Theory and History at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in the UK and combines educational theories, personal experience and childhood memories in his work.
With over 20 years in the business, Jan von Holleben continues to inspire the world with his boundless creativity.
